The coyotes on the hill behind our home have been howling like mad lately. Maybe they were celebrating the birth of some little ones, like these found just off Sandy Flats Road.
Each time I come to visit your blog, I enjoy it more each time. You have a knack to imparting the importance of nature. Something we sometimes drift away from.
Puppies are always adorable, aren’t they? And while they may grow up to be “killers” and “predators”, folks, just think of what would happen if they didn’t!
God made them just like He made us. He knows what He’s doing. They cull weaker wildlife and that is needed to keep wildlife healthy. You might think of them as a natural cleaner-upper. Without them, we would have more sick deer and other wildlife, which would then breed and make more sick wildlife, sometimes too much of it. Then we would be overrun with it.
There is a place in the world for all life’s “predators”. That’s why God, in His wisdom, created them in the first place.
Meanwhile, thanks for the picture! Win, win, win situation! (Note: I live in Idaho, where some folks stupidly hate wolves).
Awwww — hey, listen up, Pilgrims, and listen up good.
When I lived out in Cowtown USA, I managed to have sheep, chickens, peafowl, pigs — and a healthy coyote population. My guardian dog, an Anatolian/Pyranees cross, learned early to stay with her charges and not go chasing the decoy coyotes. We never lost anything to these li’l critters.
At Christmas, we’d fill the pickup with big boxes of beef bones from our rural butcher and put them out in the snow for the coyotes, bald eagles, and other welcome wildlife.
Cheers, Doug. You made my day.

They may be predators and nuisances, but their pups sure are cute and the pic is great!

Exactly what Georgia said. I know they grow up to be killers…but they’re awfully cute at this age!

What a great photo! It is almost as I am standing there and invisible to them.

Nicely done Doug. Always a pleasure to see what your eye catches. You’ve a gift for these and judging by other comments they are welcome. Thanks!
