Ice and shadow

122705ice.jpg 121705ice2.jpgThe morning dawned cold and bright with sun reflecting off the ice that coated the trees and plants around our home. The shadows loomed large across the ice-encrusted yard but the sun, with temperatures climbing above freezing, promised to melt some of the frozen stuff from the second ice storm in a week. Still, the ice that crunched underfoot was not the hardened glaze of the previous week and one coujld manage to both walk and drive on the surface. With overnight temperatures expected to be about 28 or so, Saturday morning should not bring the frozen tundra that led to falls and long downshill slides before. At least we can hope.

Is that smoke coming out of the chimney of that cabin in the background? My new wallpaper…
