If the weather talking heads are right — and that’s always a big “if” when talking about weather forecasters — we’re about to get socked with a foot or more of snow between now and Saturday afternoon — another snow job from Mother Nature.

Floyd County School administrators announced closing of school early this morning, along with the boys’ basketball game scheduled for tonight. The parking lots at Slaughters and Food Lion were full Friday night and early this morning as area residents stocked up and countians checked the air and gas supplies on their generators.

The snowfall could also wipe out the third try to stage Floyd’s annual Christmas parade after weather for the past two weekends forced cancellation.

Stay tuned, stay warm and be careful out there.
