(UPDATE: AEP reported power restored to all Floyd County homes by late Monday night. However, power remained out for more than 8,000 homes in Southwestern Virginia.)

(UPDATE: AEP is losing groud. At 1 a.m. today, the company said power remained out at 383 Floyd County homes. By 7:30 a.m. the company’s storm page said 403 homes lacked power and the number across the region increased from 12,168 to 12,213.)

Appalachian Electric Power reported at 1 a.m. today that 383 Floyd County homes still lacked power from the Christmas Day ice storm as crews worked through the night to restore electricity.

Across Southwestern Virginia, 12,168 homes remain dark from the Friday storm. Another 14,360 are still waiting for power to be restored from the Dec. 18 snow storm.
