Sold my first story and photo to The Farmville Herald in 1958.  Went to work for The Floyd Press in 1962.  I was 15 and a freshman at the newly-opened Floyd County High School.

The Roanoke Times hired me in 1965. I was 17. Worked there until March of 1969, then moved on to The Alton Telegraph in Illinois.

Wrote a column for the Telegraph for nine years and came across two of the old logos used for that newspaper column during that tenure.

Looking at both, I have to wonder.

Who the hell is that guy?
