When greed replaces tradition

NASCAR doesn't race on Mother's Day. That's been a tradition for as long as I can remember.

But tradition doesn't mean a lot in today's commercial world and NASCAR is racing this Mother's Day in Darlington because rain forced postponement of the scheduled race Saturday night.

But tradition doesn’t mean a lot in today’s commercial world and NASCAR is racing this Mother’s Day in Darlington because rain forced postponement of the scheduled race Saturday night.

In past years, NASCAR didn’t even try to schedule a Cup race on Mother’s Day weekend but they saw a chance this year to make some extra money by staging a race on Saturday night.

Serves them right.
