Winning night for basketball homecoming

Basketball homecoming night at Floyd County High School. Overflow crowd.

Time to honor legendary coach Alan Cantrell for his induction into the sports hall of fame.

Time to defend winning records. 17-1 for the top-ranked girls; 15-2 for the boys.

So how did they do? Girls beat Giles 94-49 with 18 points from Emily Boothe and 15 from homecoming queen Krista Cox.   Boys demolished Giles 97-68, thanks to 35 points from Caleb Tanner (including nine three pointers) and solid performances from the rest of the them.

More photos and Roger Mannon’s stories in next week’s Floyd Press.
