The rain on the plain is mainly a pain

Flooding in Floyd County, Virginia

The rain gauge in our backyard says 9.2 inches of rain fell at our house Wednesday and Thursday.

That's a lot of water. Creeks throughout Floyd County overflowed. Water closed Route 615 at the Post Office in Pilot. The Little River topped its banks in some spots and overflowing creeks turned meadows into lakes.

The remains of Hurriane Ida hung around longer than expected, dumped more water than forecast and created a lot of havoc.

One piece of good news at Chauteau Thompson. Our driveway survived. Recent dry weather allowed the last grading job to set and the mixture of gravel and clay held up well.
