A North Carolina state basketball team appropriately named the Villains spoiled the Floyd County High School Lady Buffs unbeaten season Friday night at Bishop McGuiness in the Tarheel State.

The Lady Buffs fell 72-61 in a game where the Villains’ Tia Cappuccio scored 22 points — 1o in the fourth quarter — and Julia Brown, headed for Western Carolina to play college ball, added 19.  The Villains scored 30 points and put a game where they trailed the Lady Buffs at one point.

For the Lady Buffs, Ragan Wiseman scored 15 and Carley Lytton and Emily Booth each added 13.  Floyd led in three-point goals with 9 — three from Booth and two each from Lytton, Booth and Hannah Belshan).

Floyd’s JV Lady Buffs, however, won.  The varsity team now stands at 18-1 for the season.
