Pure political propaganda

031214congressA longtime friend sent an email the recently quoting a sheriff comparing “liberal paradise” to life in prison.

The shameless piece of propaganda read:

A “Liberal Paradise ”

Would be a place where everybody has guaranteed employment,
free comprehensive healthcare, free education, free food, free housing,  free clothing, free utilities, and only Law Enforcement has guns.

Believe it or not, such a place does indeed exist…

It’s called prison.

Sheriff Joe Arpaio

Maricopa County Sheriff

Phoenix, Arizona

Theres a better two-word description for what was sent:  Pure propaganda.

So I had to respond:

There is no liberal paradise.  Nor is there ever a conservative one.  To limit any expression of “belief” by restrictive philosophical leanings promotes a lockstep environment that stifles independence and freedom.

Anyone who classifies themselves as a conservative or liberal, Republican or Democrat, left or right, is a follower who deserves to be led down paths that are driven by ideological agendas that strip individuality from our lives and souls.  Nothing is solved by leaning left or right.  Hope, if it still exists, comes from standing straight, thinking straight and moving forward.

Sadly, I doubt that most can do that today.  It requires too much freedom of thought and a willingness to accept differences as part of the joy of living in a diverse and exciting society without a need to condemn those who choose a different path.

As Edward R. Murrow used to say at the end of his newscast:  “Good night and good luck.”
