A heartbreaking 53-51 home loss for the Floyd County High School boys’ basketball team Saturday night against Pulaski County.

The Buffaloes opened leads several times in the first half and led by three at the break, then closed out the third quarter tied with the Cougars.

Isaac Poe of Pulaski County scored 17 points while Will Cook of Floyd County has 15 in a hard-fought battle on the court.

Both teams scored a trio of three pointers.

The Floyd junior varsity closed to within five points of Pulaski in the opening game but lost by 11 at the end.

The varsity Buffaloes are 0-7 in a season of several close losses, including one in overtime.

On the road in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, the Lady Buffs lost a consolation match 70-45 to South Forsyth, GA, in the CresCom Bank Holiday Invitational Tournament. A first round loss to Christ Church in the tournament, followed by win, leaves the team at 6-2 for the season to date.

Floyd was down by only six at the halftime break but South Forsyth outscored the Lady Buffs 40-21 in the second half. Ragan Wiseman led Floyd scoring with 14 points and Emily Boothe downed 12.
